As Professor Keith Devlin has pointed out in his lecture "The Golden Ratio & Fibonacci Numbers: Fact versus Fiction", quite a number of people believe to notice Fibonacci/golden spirals or Fibonacci/golden ratios more often than that they are actually present. Is this case of Ed Pegg Jr.'s turmite (explicitly named "FibonacciSpiral.rle") such an example of wishful thinking? Or are we observing a true Fibonacci/golden spiral being constructed here, and if that's the case: how can we explain this phenomenon? Any explanation or thoughts would be appreciated.

This article documents an attempt to re-create a yangqin for my girlfriend and musician Chung-Yi Lan. The yangqin would be light-weight, and fit for occasions requiring a lot of improvised transportation such as busking. The 3D model which I have created for this purpose (and published under a "free" license), was the first downloadable 3D model of a yangqin, I presume.
